Cape Town - Critical policy decisions need to be made immediately in regard to Eskom, Phala Phala and our state-owned entities (SOEs).
The current state of our country has me thinking about what to do and wondering what will be next?
First, we have all witnessed the country’s infrastructure failures in recent months or years, which is a cause for concern. We need a new business model to help us advance as a country. We can only move into a new era if we move to a new business model.
In this respect, the old one failed us. There is a greater need to change with the times to achieve what can help the country meet its objective of eliminating the triple challenge of poverty, inequality and unemployment.
The idea of a disciplined member raises another point: where were the disciplined members of the ANC when cadres did nothing to improve the lives of the country’s ordinary citizens?
Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma is a disciplined member of the ANC who was conscious in voting for the adoption of the Phala Phala report.
Still, the question remains, where were these disciplined members when there was a glaring collapse of our infrastructure?
Why didn’t they question or raise their voices to correct what was going wrong?
Furthermore, I found this an interesting viewpoint and wondered what would have happened if most of the ANC cadres had taken the same view against the wrongs that have been happening in our country.
Furthermore, serious issues are affecting us as a country and one that tops my mind is the leadership challenges surrounding the Phala Phala saga. Various views make it difficult for us as a country to move forward in solving other issues facing us.
As the ANC went to its currently under way elective conference this weekend, it will be vital to see if they can come up with critical policy decisions regarding the future of SOEs, and especially that of Eskom.
The other interesting discussion will be regarding Eskom and which ministry will better serve its interests and that of the country.
Lastly, what will also be necessary will be the continuation of the task at hand and what type of leadership will help us navigate the country’s future.
The current president must complete the task of consolidating all efforts in rebuilding our nation.
Let 2023 be a year in which we transform our country into the best in our region and the world.
