Durban — Phoenix police are investigating a case of attempted murder following a shooting at an alleged drug den.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala said the incident took place on Sunday at about 11pm at Kylemore in Phoenix.
“It is alleged that a 40-year-old man was outside his home when he was shot by two unknown people. He sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital for medical attention,” Gwala said.
KZN VIP spokesperson Gareth Naidoo said the shooting happened outside an alleged drug den.
Naidoo said KZN VIP ambulance and security teams responded to the scene where a man was shot in the head by another.
“The victim was still alive at the time when KZN VIP medics arrived and was treated on the scene before being rushed to hospital,” Naidoo said.
“Spent cartridges were found at the scene and no arrests were made.”
Naidoo added that the scene was cordoned off and handed over to the police for investigation.
