Durban — A plea has been made for information on a child’s decomposed body that was discovered on Monday in Isipingo.
Renegades Search and Rescue’s Dawn Gounden said they are pleading with the community for assistance.
“Renegades Search and Rescue humbly seek to locate the next of kin of an unidentified African female child recently discovered – believed to be around 7 years old,” said Gounden.
This poignant discovery has sparked a collaborative effort among police, the Renegades Search and Rescue team, and the public to unravel the mystery surrounding the child’s identity and to provide the necessary support, she said.
They plead for assistance from the public to locate the girl’s family and issue a collective appeal for information that may bring clarity and closure to this delicate situation, she added.
The minor was located in a Teal Place Ground in Lotus Park, Isipingo, south of Durban, on Monday, July 8.

Police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said Isipingo police are investigating a case of murder following the discovery of the body of a child in Isipingo on July 8.
“Reports indicate that a decomposing body of an unknown child was found in the bush with what looked like burn marks,” said Ngcobo.
It is reported that the community first believed the body was that of missing Zekhethelo Luphalule Dlamini, 6, from Malukazi in Isipingo, who has been missing since June 20, but her mother ruled it out after viewing the body’s distinctive fingers.
