Bianca Censori sparked worldwide outrage as she went completely naked at the 2025 Grammys on Sunday, alongside her husband Kanye West.
In response to the backlash, Kanye West defended his wife's controversial outfit, calling it "art".
West has criticised the Grammys as dull, stating they never intended to stay long. Despite concerns from fans about Censori's apparent discomfort, insiders claimed she enjoyed herself and was not coerced.
Following the awards ceremony, the couple attended an afterparty in Los Angeles. Censori arrived in a completely sheer black bodysuit paired with black boots, continuing to draw attention.
Since Sunday night’s debacle, there have been increasing calls for Kanye and his wife Bianca to be barred from future red carpet events from both within and outside the entertainment industry.
Despite the controversy, the Recording Academy and AEG, who jointly host the awards, did not receive any complaints about her attire.
Although there was significant speculation about whether she violated any dress code rules, no official action was taken.
According to the Daily Mail, a lip reader, Nicola Hickling, says that he told Censori, “You're making a scene now.” He nodded her head and he told her; “Make a scene, I'll say it'll make so much sense. Drop it behind you and then turn, I got you.” he then tells him: “Alright, let's go.”
West and Censori left the event soon after the red carpet walk and were pictured getting into a waiting limo.
It was reported the pair were asked to leave the event after turning up uninvited and escorted out by security after their appearance; however, the exact narrative remains unclear.
The stunt is said to have lost Kanye a $20 million (R375 million) deal to play in Japan. West, 47, had signed up to do two shows at the Tokyo Dome in May, but following the naked stunt on the red carpet of the Grammys on Sunday night, his Japanese investors have taken fright and it is likely that they will pull their funding for the show.
Japan is having a cultural awakening about women's rights and the MeToo movement gaining momentum. West lived in a hotel in Tokyo for most of last year.
This event marked West's return to the Grammys after a decade, his last appearance being in 2015 with his then-wife, Kim Kardashian.
The incident has ignited a broader debate on artistic expression, public decency, and the dynamics of celebrity influence in contemporary culture.
