Musician Ringo Madlingozi says he is no longer active in politics, but he will always be a fighter

Legendary South African singer Ringo Madlingozi recently took to X, to announce that he is “no longer active in politics”.

The former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Member of Parliament made it clear that he will always love his brothers and sister explaining that his purpose is to heal through music.

“I’m no longer active in politics. I will always love my brothers and sisters. My purpose to heal through my music will remain.”

Madlingozi, made it clear his move to focus on music isn’t affecting his standing with being a member of the red berets, adding “I will die a fighter.”

Madlingozi was an active ANC member for 12 years before joining the EFF around 2019 when he was sworn in as an MP. He did not appear on the party’s 2024 MP list.

Last year Madlingozi, signed a deal with Sony Music Entertainment, making 13 of his albums available on streaming platforms. This sparked murmurs that he could be exiting politics which he strongly disputed.

“Your journalism is fraud. Your lies hide behind your ‘reliable sources’. Your wishes can never be mine.

“What you must write is the re-emergence of my catalogue on all digital platforms for the first time on 15 September. I’m EFF South Africa through and through. Your juno’s are liars,” he tweeted at the time.

The legendary musician is known for hit songs such as ‘Sondela’, ‘Baleka’ and ‘Nkqo Nkqo’ and is known to be always creating music, his political exit could signal the possibility of a new release on the horizon.
