Yung Swiss, born Steve Dang, has become a standout name in the South African hip hop scene.

Originally from Cameroon but raised in Johannesburg, his sound blends international flair with local energy. His breakout moment came with the smash hit “I Love It” featuring Reason.

His follow-up track, “David Genaro”, connected with audiences on a deeper level.

“Not only” became a staple on the hit South African TV show “Rhythm City”, giving the track even more cultural weight. That song was the moment Yung Swiss solidified his place as a hip hop artist.

Swiss played a major role in DJ Speedsta’s 2019 track “Mayo”, which dominated the airwaves, and went on to collaborate with Cameroonian artist Stanley Enow on “Locked Up”, proving his reach goes far beyond South African borders.

Earlier this year, Swiss dropped “1994”, a single that gave fans a raw look at his mindset and his thoughts on the societal landscape. The title, which also marks the year of his birth, is symbolic of breaking through mental barriers and embracing greatness.

Now, Swiss is set to drop “Gemini Pt. 1”, his latest project, on Friday, December 6.

The rapper gave a special shout-out to his collaborators, particularly @sick_eworldwide, crediting them with saving the project with a last-minute contribution that seemed to have been the missing puzzle piece.

He teased the release with a post on social media:“’Gemin’ Pt.1 drops this Friday 06/12/2024. Xikwembu! 🤍 🎨: @luwbayne S/O @sick_eworldwide for the last minute contribution that pretty much saved the project 🙏.”

Swiss was crowned "King of Trap" by MTV Base in 2017, a title that stirred some salty reactions in the South African hip-hop scene.

While the accolade was a huge achievement for Swiss, it didn't sit well with some of his peers, especially South African rapper Emtee, who made it clear that he wasn't on board with the label.
