Gunna (real name Sergio Giavanni Kitchens) is set to perform in South Africa in January as part of the Heineken House line-up.
The American rapper will take to the main stage in Johannesburg in January. He will be joined by top South African artists such as Young Stunna, DBN Gogo, Maglera Doe Boy, Dee Koala and Morda.
Meanwhile, the Face2Face stage will include performances by DJ Biza, B2B, Vigro Deep, Ice Beats, Sbuda, MaLeather, Success, 032 Choppa, Shakes & Les as well as Mellow & Sleazy.
This exclusive event operates on an invite-only basis and attendees won’t be able to purchase tickets. Instead, they are urged to follow Heineken House on social media for updates on how to secure passes.
In addition, the date and venue for the musical extravaganza, which prides itself in “discovering the future of sound”, will also be announced in due course.
However, it promises to be an electrifying experience as the gathering, which will also feature bold local fashion collaborations and art installations that celebrate the City of Gold’s vibrancy.
The organisers added in a statement that the concert is “a space alive with energy, where music hits harder, art speaks louder and style is unapologetically bold”.
They featured at Rocking the Daisies last year and was also hosted stage at Coachella as well as in Brazil.
Meanwhile, Gunna, who has been nominated for a Grammy Award four times and has become renowned for his electric stage presence, is thrilled about his upcoming Jozi show.
“Coming back to South Africa feels like a homecoming,” he said in a statement.
“Y’all get ready for a show like no other, it’s going to be a one-of-a-kind experience,” he added.
Fans can expect to hear hits from his platinum-certified debut album, “One of Wun” as well as his other chart-topping tracks which have cemented his status as a global superstar.
Gunna is no stranger to Mzansi as he visited Joburg in May with Tyla to shoot her “Jump” video. He features on the track alongside Jamaican musician Skillibeng.
Him and the “Water” singer created quite the stir during their visit as they were in the streets of Joburg where they shot the visuals for the video.
They also went to popular lifestyle venue Konka in Soweto. Gunna appears to have a deep appreciation for amapiano and Afrobeats, having also featured on Sarz's “Happiness” featuring Asake, which has achieved international success.
