Family from Israel injured in KZN Midlands crash

Midlands EMS reported that a family from Israel were left in a critical condition following a collision outside of Boston in KwaZulu-Natal on Friday.

Durban - A family reportedly from Israel were left in a critical condition following an accident on Landies Hill just outside of Boston, a town about 60km west of Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal on Friday.

On Saturday, Midlands EMS spokesperson Roland Robertson said a head-on collision at about 4:30pm left multiple people injured, including a family from Israel.

“Upon arrival it was found that one patient was severely entrapped in the vehicle and multiple patients were injured. Midlands EMS Advanced life support paramedic stabilised the patient before extricating the patient with the jaws of life,” he said.

Robertson said multiple other patients sustained minor to serious injuries and were all treated at the scene.

“The exact cause of the accident is under investigation by local authorities,” he said.

In a separate accident on Friday morning at around 9:30am, a single vehicle rolled on Petrus Stroom Road in Howick.

Robertson said the accident resulted in a family of five getting injured.

“Upon arrival it was found that a single vehicle had rolled multiple times leaving a family injured. Patients sustained minor to moderate injuries. All patients were treated on scene before being transported to hospital,” he said.
