KwaZulu-Natal Premier, ThamI Ntuli, will officially launch the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign on Monday.

The Premier’s office said that the launch will take place at Estcourt Hospital in Northern KZN, starting at 08:00am. “The 16 Days of Activism campaign is a global initiative aimed at raising awareness about gender-based violence and mobilising society to take action against all forms of abuse directed at women and children.”

The premier will outline the province’s strategies and key interventions to combat gender-based violence.

“While reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of women and children in KwaZulu-Natal.”

The office added that Premier Ntuli, will also lead a Crime Fighting Imbizo at Nyezane area under Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality, uThukela District.

“This comes after several mass killings in the district, some related to stock theft. In October, Premier Ntuli visited the families of the deceased in Nyezane, following the brutal murder of five people and made a commitment that he will return in the form of Imbizo.”

The office said that the Crime Fighting Imbizo will afford the Premier an opportunity to articulate the provincial government’s plans to introduce lasting solutions to the people of Loskop and the surrounding areas.
