Just days after releasing a darkened teaser image of its new C-X17 SUV concept, another piece of the puzzle has leaked onto the internet.

The frontal shot you see here is all we have to go on for now, but it does show that the soon-to-be-revealed concept - which previews an upcoming production model - will closely follow the frontal design language seen on the current XF sedan.

Jaguar has yet to release any useful information on the concept, but the company's press material states that it was created as a design study to introduce Jaguar's new highly advanced, modular aluminium architecture.

This lightweight platform, which appears to be a scaled-down version of the XJ's architecture, is expected to underpin the British marque's forthcoming 3-Series rival as well as the next XF.

As we've stated, nothing with regard to the SUV is official yet, but we would expect it to be powered by the pair of supercharged V6 petrol engines found in the F-Type (with outputs of 250kW and 280kW) in addition to the XF's 147kW/450Nm 2.2-litre four-pot turbodiesel.

Jaguar will reveal the C-X17 at a pre-launch event on Monday 9 September, the day before the Frankfurt Motor Show opens its doors. Stay tuned for the full story next week.
