Having more ponies under the bonnet than Mr Joe Standard in his similar car doesn't always have to mean turning to some loony tuning company for help.
In this instance, Porsche's 'Exclusive' division is now offering a power enhancement kit for the 911 Carrera S, boosting the power output from 294kW to a more useful 316kW.
FOUR-SECOND SPRINTER
According to the official figures, this boost cuts the 0-100km/h sprint time of the Carrera S Coupé PDK (in Sport Plus mode) from 4.5 seconds to just four seconds flat, while the top speed is bumped up from 304km/h to 308km/h.
Yet despite power increasing by over seven percent, Porsche says that the combined fuel consumption figure (8.7 l/100km) remains the same as before.
NUTS & BOLTS
On the nuts and bolts side of things, the Powerkit comprises upgraded cylinder heads with different camshafts and a totally new variable resonance intake system. Furthermore, engineers achieved low exhaust back pressure via a sport exhaust system. Owners can also create a more aural engine sound at the push of a button.
The Powerkit is not just about performance upgrades however, with Porsche's Sport Chrono package with dynamic engine mounts forming part of the package and there's a long list of available exterior components that have been aerodynamically enhanced.
Among these are an extended front apron, bolder air intakes and a 'ducktail' style rear spoiler.
We’re currently awaiting confirmation on this kit’s possible SA introduction.
