A lifeless body of a man was discovered floating in North End Lake on Thursday, sparking a gruesome murder investigation that has left the police baffled and searching for clues.
Police are now calling on the public to help identify the deceased.
SAPS Mount Road officers were dispatched to the scene at 6.24am after a resident reported that a vagrant had alerted her to the body in the water said the Eastern Cape police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg.

He was dressed in a black tracksuit pants and a faded black shirt and he had a circle beard. The hands and feet of the deceased were tied, and a case of murder was opened for further investigation," said Van Rensburg.
On arrival, police confirmed the sighting and called in SAPS divers to retrieve the remains.
