The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition will host the third South African Conference on Essential and Vegetable Oils.

The event is in partnership with the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, the UN Industrial Development Organisation and the Southern African Essentials Oils Producer’s Association.

The conference, scheduled to take place on July 25 and 26, at the South African National Botanical Gardens aims to being together industry stakeholders, experts and policy makers to discuss the latest trends, challenges and opportunities in the essential and vegetable oil sector.

This two-day event promises to be a platform for knowledge sharing, networking and collaboration with a focus on promoting the growth and development of the essential oils industry in South Africa.

Acting Deputy Director-General in the department Thandi Phele said the upcoming conference will be a significant step in strengthening the quality of essential and vegetable oils exports from South Africa.

She said through this conference the technical competence and the sustainability of the national quality infrastructure system and the conformity assessment services that serve the selected value chains in this industry will be highlighted.

“This conference will serve as a pivotal platform for knowledge sharing and networking among key industry player underscores our commitment to fostering growth and innovation within the essential and vegetable industry,” she added.

The conference will feature a series of presentations, panel discussions and interactive sessions focusing on innovation trends that are shaping the global essential and vegetable oil market, addressing critical challenges faced by producers and stakeholders and strategies for expanding market reach from local to global.

The Head of Swiss Secretariat for Economic Affairs, Daniel Lauchenauer, said the upcoming conference presents an unparalleled opportunity for stakeholders to engage with industry leaders, share best practices and forge partnerships that will drive the industry forward.

“We are excited to host this conference and bring together stakeholders from across the industry we believe that this event will play a crucial role in promoting the growth and development of the essential oils industry.”
