Celebrated songbird Lerato “Lira” Molapo has become a beacon of light to countless people with her unwavering perseverance and devotion to her craft.

After surviving a stroke she has worked hard to get back on stage.

A few days ago, she received glowing reviews on social media for her performance at the Veuve Clicquot Bold Women Awards, which included her much-loved song, “Something Inside so Strong”.

One of the memorable performances that she shared with her followers was in Nirox Sculpture Park, where she performed with the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra.

Molapo took to Instagram to share her progress, encouraging her followers that they, too, could achieve anything in their lives.

“This was so surreal! I never thought I would be singing so soon… I've worked hard, but there's times when the progress is so slow. Now I know that you can achieve anything you put your mind to – just do the work daily. Even if it seems you are making no progress, just keep going. I'm so proud of myself. I'm experiencing the season of being proud of myself. It was so emotional – I cried many tears yesterday – I released so much. Tears of pride, joy, and triumph.’’

Among her milestones was bagging an award at an event held by the Consul General of India, Manesh Kumar, on International Women's Day last year.

She shared on social media that the event was to commemorate women who had shown outstanding achievements in their fields.

“It was the first award I received since having a stroke. Then I gave a speech. God is so good,” she said.

She is also counting down the days until Magic Music Sessions, where she will perform on Saturday, July 27 at SunBet Arena, Time Square, Pretoria.
