It’s safe to say that Percy Tau was upset after he was left out of the Bafana Bafana squad for the upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Speaking on Sports Night Amplified with Andile Ncube, an unhappy Tau said he did not agree with head coach Hugo Broos’ reasons for dropping him, and expressed his belief he still had a lot to offer the national team.

Broos has said the former Mamelodi Sundowns star was left out to as he was not mentally in the right space having been criticised over his recent performances for the national team and his club Al Ahly.

However, on Tuesday Broos said Tau’s reaction to being dropped showed he still had the desire and the hunger to play for Bafana Bafana.

“I think first of all, the player knows why he’s not with us. He knows, it is no problem. I told him, it’s no problem,” Broos said when speaking to journalists on Tuesday.

“That he doesn’t agree, that’s another thing, and it’s a good thing, because that means that he wants to play for Bafana Bafana.

“But he has to understand also, and he can tell me what he wants, I know what he gets from criticism after a Bafana Bafana game – don’t tell me it doesn’t affect you. Don’t tell me that.

The Begian added that he did not have a problem with Tau disagreeing with publicly, saying the two were not at loggerheads.

“... I don’t have a problem that the player is not agreeing with what I’m telling him, on the opposite, I think that’s a very good mentality showing. and he will be with us again when things are clear.

“So I don’t think directly now that there is still a problem in October, we will see.”
