Former SuperSport United player Selaelo Rasebotja has opened up about his move to Soweto giants Orlando Pirates, saying it was every player's dream to play for a big club.

Rasebotja, who came through the ranks at Matsatsantsa a Pitori was reportedly signed as a free agent by the mighty Buccaneers to help bolster the club’s midfield ahead of the new season.

The Buccaneers are currently on a pre-season camp in Spain preparing for the new campaign, and will be hoping to break the dominance of champions Mamelodi Sundowns after finishing second in 2023/24.

The 23-year-old Rasebotja made his bow or his new club in last week’s friendly against Plymouth Argyle.

Rasebotja told his club’s website he was excited when he got the news that Ezimnyama Ngenkani were interested in his services.

“Every footballer’s dream is to play for a big club. For an institution like Orlando Pirates to enquire about my services is a big career move, and I looked forward to it with enthusiasm and excitement,” he said.

The Soweto giants are set to lock horns against Spanish side Sevilla in another pre-season friendly on Monday, and the young midfielder is relishing the opportunity.

“Sevilla is one of the top teams in Spain, and we would like to play against the best to also showcase what we are capable of,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to getting out there and competing against a good team like Sevilla, and hopefully we get the result that we want as well. We’ll play to win as always,” added Rasebotja.
