What sets "Die Brug" apart from other reality shows is the deeply personal motivations that drive each contestant’s participation, making it a heartfelt journey that resonates with viewers.

In the first season, viewers saw 34-year-old former rugby player Rob Kruger walk away as the winner. After his rugby career ended, Kruger found himself at a crossroads, which led him to the competition.

The show places a group of strangers in a remote wilderness with a simple yet challenging task: construct a bridge from the shore to an island where a chest containing R1 million in cash awaits. They have 20 days to complete this mission.

But building the bridge is only part of the challenge. The contestants must also test their social skills, morals, physical and mental strength and endurance.

The true test is not just the physical construction but how they navigate their personal divides, and social dynamics to work together. The show takes viewers on an emotional roller-coaster ride, leaving you unsure of who to trust at any given moment.

The question is, who will be the first to negotiate their way across the bridge to the prize, and will they stick to the promises that helped them get there?

What to expect in season 2

Fans who followed the riveting first season may think they have it all figured out but the goalposts are shifting for season two.

The players must work together to cross turbulent waters – often of their own making – and negotiate unexpected new twists and temptations, with plenty of surprises along the way.

“Die Brug is a global phenomenon and was one of the best-performing reality shows on kykNET last year. So, we’re excited to bring a second season to our viewers,” said Waldimar Pelser, channel director of premium channels at the MultiChoice Group.

“It quickly gained a fanatical following, and we’ve worked hard to make sure that those fans are rewarded – and that the players in the second season will be kept on their toes.”

The success of the show is evident in season one’s Avril Albetti picking up a nomination for Personality of the Year at this year’s Silwerskerm Awards for Film and TV. This demonstrates the show's appeal beyond the realms of reality TV.

“Die Brug” is produced by Red Pepper Pictures and will be broadcast on kykNET in early 2025. If you think you have what it takes to bridge the divide to R1 million, enter at kykNET.tv before 31 August.

Additionally, if you’re planning on attending “Liefde By Die Dam” on August 3 at the Emmerentia Dam in Johannesburg, you can audition for season 2 at the official kykNET “Die Brug” S2 audition stand.

Entrants are also welcome to enter online as well as try their luck at “Liefde By Die Dam”.
