Dubai princess Shaikha Mahra Mohammed Rashed Al Maktoum broke the internet when she divorced her husband Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum via Instagram.

She wrote a short statement to announce her divorce.

She said: “Dear husband, as you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce. I divorce, I divorce and I divorce you. Take care, Your ex-wife.”

Her statement mentioning the divorce three times referenced the Islamic practice of “triple talaq”, which has been outlawed in multiple countries including India, Saudi Arabia and Morocco.

Previously, the “triple talaq” allowed a man to divorce his wife by saying or writing the word “talaq” (divorce) three times.

Many women have since backed Shaikha Mahra for her bravery and choosing herself over a marriage that no longer served her.

“Every woman that’s finally figured out her worth, has picked up her suitcases of pride and boarded a flight to freedom, which landed in the valley of change ❤️🙏🏽 you deserve to be happy,” commented “The Real Housewives of Dubai” star Dr Sara Al Madani.

Instagram user, @dubai_culture, said: “Much love to you for being brave enough to confront. May God heal your heart and give you and your daughter continued health, happiness and blessings.

“Thank you for your transparency by sharing your thoughts. I hope the best wishes and prayers from others, will help you through this chapter of your life to the next chapter, where God's journey continues, and may you walk that path into happiness ❤️🙏🏼 much love.”

Most women sympathised with her because divorce is not easy, especially when there is a child involved.

“I hope she’s surrounded by love because I know a decision like this wasn’t easy. Being with a man who continuously cheats on you can cause immense mental harm. Do you know how long it can take for a woman to recover? Chai, we women suffer,” commented @CrystalUju.

Meanwhile, others said they must put her on “The Real Housewives of Dubai” because she has the range.

Her husband has yet to comment on the matter.
