Group A from the world cup features the hosts, Muslim nations Egypt and Saudi Arabia, as well as South American nation Uruguay. 

Russia

1. Russia has the largest McDonalds in the world - the restaurant seats a maximum of 700 customers. 

2. The Russian nation holds the record for the world's longest railway - the railway travels across the entire country at a distance of 9200 kilometres, starting at Moscow and crosses into the Asia. An entire non-stop journey on the railway will take you 152 hours and 27 minutes.

3. Russians have a superstition associated with flowers - men don't give women an amount of flowers, as it is considered bad luck and is usually associated with funerals. 

4. Former Russian leaders Vladimir Lenin was embalmed (a process of putting wax over skin to preserve it) after his death and placed in a mausoleum for public viewing. He is currently available to be viewed at Lenin's Mausoleum in Moscow. 

Egypt

1.  One of the oldest civilizations, the Egyptians created the 365-day a year calendar, in order to predict the yearly flooding of the Nile river.

2. The pyramids of Khufu in Giza are the last surviving landmark of the seven ancient wonders of the world.

3. The first recognized pharaoh of Egypt was King Menes, who united the Upper and Lower Kingdoms of the country. Legend has it that he was killed by a hippopotamus after he had ruled the unified country for 60 years.

4. The largest Arabic population in the world lives in Egypt.

Uruguay

1. The official name of Uruguay is República Oriental del Uruguay (Oriental Republic of Uruguay).

2. The name Uruguay comes from the Uruguay River which means ‘river of the painted birds’ in the ancient Guarani language. 

3.  The country's national flower is the Erythrina crista-galli, often known as the cockspur coral tree (or Ceibo in Spanish).

4.  Uruguay’s national anthem, which lasts more than five minutes, is the world’s longest in performance duration.

Saudi Arabia

1. 

The Saudi kingdom's Ghawar field is the largest oil field in the world. 

2. Saudi Arabia recently allowed women to drive.

3. Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is the current King of Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and head of the House of Saud.
