The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health says 1,200 new Community Service personnel and Medical Interns have been deployed at healthcare facilities across the province today.
The department said this deployment includes nurses, doctors, and Allied Health Professionals and marks a critical reinforcement of the provincial health system.
It added that the deployment of these professionals also serves to categorically dispel recent rumours and a voice note that circulated on social media, falsely claiming that there would be no intake or placement in KZN this year.
KZN MEC for Health, Nomagugu Simelane, expressed her enthusiasm for the new arrivals and addressed the disinformation.
“We are aware of the unfounded rumours that sought to cause unnecessary anxiety. Today, we not only warmly welcome our new colleagues but also put those speculations to rest. The arrival of this large contingent is proof of our commitment to strengthening our workforce. Your presence strengthens our capacity to deliver quality healthcare, and we expect you to serve our communities with dedication, compassion, and professionalism,” said MEC Simelane.
She further emphasised the Department’s commitment to ensuring a smooth integration for the new staff members.
“We will be visiting facilities to officially welcome you and ensure a comprehensive orientation process. This is to help you acclimatise swiftly to the KZN health system. The health of our patients is sacrosanct. We urge you to always prioritise our patients, putting them first in all that you do. Treat them with the same care and respect you would want for your own family. We encourage you to proactively correct any shortcomings you observe, ensuring the highest standards of care at all times.”
