The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) confirmed the payment schedule for social grants for this month, which begin from tomorrow.

According to SASSA, Older Persons’ Grants will be paid from Tuesday, January 6, 2026, followed by Disability Grants on Wednesday, January 7, and children's grants on Thursday, January 8.

The agency said payments will be made through the usual channels, including via the grant recipient's bank accounts and approved pay points.

These are the current SASSA grant amounts:

• Older Persons Grant: R2,320 (R2,340 for 75+)

• Disability Grant: R2,320

• War Veterans Grant: R2,340

• Care Dependency Grant: R2,320

• Foster Care Grant: R1,250

• Child Support Grant: R560

• Child Support Top-Up: R560 + R280

• SRD Grant: R370

SASSA has also warned grant recipients to be vigilant about fake social media posts regarding the R370 social relief of distress (SRD) grant. Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana last year announced an extension of the SRD grant until March 2027.

The agency confirmed on its official Facebook account that a social media post about claiming grants not received in previous years from retail stores was fake. In the post, the person offers to help recipients get paid out for grants not received in previous years due to a lost SIM card or changed their phone numbers.

SASSA warned that the information is false and does not come from it. It also issued a warning on a fake job advert for grant administrators.
