The clock is ticking for the Class of 2025 with just 40 days left before the final National Senior Certificate (NSC) exam.
The exams are set to begin on Tuesday, October 21 and will run until Wednesday, November 26.
Thousands of Grade 12 learners are entering the final stretch of preparation for what is considered the most crucial assessment of their school career.
Nearly 22 000 learners attended the province's #BackOnTrack Winter School during the winter break. The programme held in all eight districts, offered revision classes for key subjects. Learners will have access to extra classes during the spring break, while weekend revision sessions have been running during the third term.
The Western Cape Education Department has also delivered its annual Matric Support booklet to schools, the guide contains past papers, exam rules, study tips and timetables. A companion Tips for Success booklet provided detailed guidance on effective study concepts and time management from former learners.
The department has warned that the run-up to the exams can be stressful and learners struggling with pressure are encouraged to approach the school staff or district support teams, or to call the toll-free Safe Schools hotline on 0800 45 46 47.
The department has also appealed to the public to protect the candidates from unnecessary disruptions. "They are already under enough pressure and do not need added stress of protests and disruptions in and around schools," it said.
"The hours you invest over the next 40 days will be of great benefit during the exams", the WCED added.
