Thando Mokoena, the daughter of actress and presenter Pearl Thusi and former SABC sports presenter Walter Mokoena, has made the brave decision to publicly confirm that she identifies as a pansexual woman.
This revelation comes after a wave of speculation surrounding her sexuality, sparked by her earlier post that included an LGBT hashtag.
Pansexuality is the sexual or romantic attraction to people regardless of their sex or gender.
In the candid video shared by content creator @1xrayk, Mokoena spoke openly about her journey of self-discovery.
“I now know that I am a pansexual woman," Mokoena disclosed.
She went on to encourage others to explore their feelings, mentioning that exploration can lead to greater understanding of oneself.
“Everyone, well, who's within their right and is curious, should experience experimentation with the same sex or same gender. I feel like it's a way of discovering yourself,” she said.
Reflecting on her experiences, Mokoena shared that she first felt curiosity towards the same sex at the age of 12.
"I didn't experiment at this age, but I did kind of like become curious at the age of like, 12. I was like, 'okay, like there's clearly some attraction', and then when I got a bit older, it kind of confirmed it for me."
She further confirmed her experiences by saying: "I have indeed (experimented) and I now know that I am a pansexual woman, so that experimentation helped me figure out more about myself."
When playfully asked about women, she said: "Oh, the baddest!"
The reaction from netizens has been mixed, with some praising her candidness while others voiced their concerns.
"I don't think you have to experiment with anything to know yourself ... You just know who you are, there's nothing to discover," said @zar_afrika.
"After that, it's experiments with drugs, then mental illness and then suicidal thoughts!! The devil is crafty! Parents pray for your kids!!" said @keamonee.
"That’s why we don’t listen to Instagram advice because of such things … wtf," commented @mr.sgudu.
In another segment of the video, Mokoena expressed her displeasure towards individuals with large egos: "It irks me when people have really huge egos ... Like bro, come down to Earth chief, we are all down here, come down with us.
"We are all humans, you are not better than anyone else ... It really rubs me the wrong type of way ... I feel like everyone has an ego to a certain point, but it shouldn't cloud your judgement or how you feel about other people, that's really wrong, and it kind of ruins your personality."
