“I am beyond excited to share 'The Journey' with the world,” said South African artist Nomcebo Dot.
After a three-year hiatus, she has returned with her debut album, “The Journey”, marking a significant moment in her musical career.
The album reflects her growth as a musician and highlights her distinctive approach to contemporary African music.
Dot, known for hits such as "Isithembiso" featuring Musa Sukwene and the gqom favourite "Volcano”, took time away from the spotlight to refine her sound and curate her artistry.
“The Journey” is the product of this period, showcasing a variety of musical styles and storytelling that capture her evolution as an artist.
The album’s lead single, "God's Love Overflow”, is already gaining attention for its uplifting message. It carries themes of hope, resilience and love, resonating with listeners locally and internationally.
The track sets the tone for the album, which weaves together Dot’s signature blend of genres, emotional storytelling and layered musical arrangements.
“This album represents the lessons that I’ve learned during my time away,” she said.
“Each track holds a special place in my heart, and I hope they resonate with everyone who listens.”
Beyond music, Dot has also made her mark in television, with roles in series such as “Uzalo” and “Amalanga Awafani”. Her versatility as a performer extends her influence across South Africa’s entertainment industry.
Born in KwaZulu-Natal, she combines a strong academic foundation with her creative pursuits, establishing herself as a multifaceted force in contemporary African entertainment.
Her achievements have been recognised on an international scale. She recently received an award for outstanding musical and film brand at the Emerging Brands in Africa Awards.
“I am thrilled to announce that I have received my fifth international award,” she said.
“This recognition is a testament to the dedication and hard work of my team and the unwavering support of our stakeholders. I extend my sincere gratitude to Emerging Brands in Africa for this honour. It motivates me to continue pushing boundaries and delivering excellence.”
