Only Drake would turn an album rollout into a real-life treasure hunt.
The rapper has fans pulling up to a parking lot in downtown Toronto after revealing that the release date for his upcoming album “Iceman” is literally frozen inside a massive ice structure.
The “What Did I Miss” rapper first teased the stunt on Instagram, sharing pictures of the installation along with the caption “Release date inside”.
He also dropped the coordinates for fans to figure out the location of the gigantic ice. It has since become a full-on scene.
What fans found was not a small block sitting on a table. It’s a huge structure reportedly made up of over 2,000 commercial ice blocks. Somewhere at the bottom of it all is the release date of his highly anticipated ninth studio album.
Nobody knows exactly when it’ll be revealed. The structure is expected to slowly melt over the next few days, with estimates suggesting it could start breaking down within four to six days.
Of course, fans are not exactly known for their patience, especially since they’ve been waiting for the release for a while. Some are clearly not in the mood to wait for nature to do its thing.
Videos of people trying to speed things up are already circulating online, from using flamethrower lighters to chipping away at the ice, which means the release date might be revealed sooner.
This is just the latest move in Drake’s “Iceman” rollout, which has already included cryptic posts, livestream teases and even what looked like staged explosions in Toronto tied to a music video shoot.
The stunt also ties into everything Drake has been building up around “Iceman”. Over the past few weeks, he’s been dropping hints through livestreams, teasing new music and keeping things intentionally vague.
There were even reports of explosions in Toronto, which were later linked to a music video shoot tied to the project.
The Canadian-born rapper has previously worked on a joint project with PartyNextDoor for “$ome $exy $ongs 4 U”.
This will mark his next solo release since “For All the Dogs” in 2023, and it comes after a busy run that included collaborations and his beef with Kendrick Lamar.
