Gogolympics

Celebrate the resilience of Valley of 1000 Hills grandmothers at Woza Moya’s June Artist Wall. Opened last weekend, this powerful photographic exhibition by Brett van Dort honours local "gogos" preparing for the 11th annual Gogolympics on August 28.

Partnering with Hello Poppy, psychologist Dr. Paul Bushell, and the 100% Foundation, the event marks 20 years of HACT’s Gogo Support Groups.

All proceeds from photo and card sales directly fund the upcoming sports day for over 800 training elders.

031 Festival

Get ready for an eclectic, family-friendly celebration of South African performance.

The fourth annual 031 Theatre Festival, spearheaded by Macbob Productions (Lisa Bobbert and Aaron McIlroy), features 11 productions packed with comedy, drama, music, and solo performances, including out-of-town acts. 

Embedded in the festival is the student festival presented by International School of Performing Arts (ISPA) to showcase the extraordinary range and talent of ISPA’s emerging performers through three distinct productions.

Festival lineup: 

  • "Rugby Mad": Rugby takes centre stage in the high-energy, laugh-out-loud one-man show. Written and performed by Aaron McIlroy.

  • "Cottonwool Kid": Toni Morkel and Sylvaine Strike’s poignant narrative.

  • "Ms. B-haved": A school scandal starring Sue Diepeveen. 

  • "Roti Queen": Shika Budoo’s hilarious solo comedy on marriage.

  • "Growing Old Disgracefully": Cabaret with Tonya Koenderman.

  • "Britney in the Underworld": A one-woman cabaret starring Kaylee McIlroy and directed by Lisa Bobbert.

  • "Karen and Me": Shannon Kenny as Karen Carpenter, directed by Darren King, with Alan Judd.

  • "Jagged Little Tribute": Marion Loudon’s tribute to Alanis Morissette, with a band.

  • "Comedy Games": An improv comedy experience packed with quick wit, audience interaction and high-energy fun. Led by Patrick Kenny.

  • "Age of Ubuntu": Third year student Damien Butt has written about Marcus, an ordinary young man whose life is upended after he accidentally causes the death of another person in a road incident.

  • ISPA student showcase.
