Khloé Kardashian just reminded us all that being single and celibate isn’t a crisis. On the latest episode of "The Kardashians", she confirmed she’s been out of the dating game for four years, and, honestly, she couldn’t care less.
When a producer asked if it’s really been that long since she’s been with a man, Kardashian didn’t hesitate: “Yes, four years this December.”
“I’ve never had anything down there in so many years… you know, the cobwebs are probably forming,”
And when asked if she missed romance, she said in classic Khloe money fashion: “F*** no.” Complete with a very direct message to potential suitors: “Stay the f*** away from me.”
She also made it clear that love isn’t something she craves right now.
“When I’m thinking about love, and I’m like, ‘Aw, I miss the butterflies’, then I’m like, no, I don’t, cause then I’m gonna be like, ‘He didn’t text me back! He didn’t call!’ Like, no.
"You’re all f****** nuts, and all you guys do is add problems and drama and stress and tears. Boys. Like ugh - too much. Nope.”
Increasingly, people aren’t following the old script of “meet someone, marry someone, settle down” simply because it’s expected. Data from multiple sociological studies show that adults today are much more comfortable with being single as a valid life chapter, not a waiting room.
Many are prioritising self-growth, career, mental health, and autonomy over relationships. Pew Research and studies from the Journal of Marriage and Family report that many adults are satisfied being single and are even delaying or forgoing long-term partnerships.
When researchers look specifically at intentional celibacy, they find similar patterns. A study published in the Journal of Sex Research found that a notable proportion of adults choose celibacy for reasons other than religion, such as self‑reflection, healing after breakup, mental health focus, or simply not wanting the complications of sex or dating at a particular life stage.
Participants in that research reported that being celibate improved their sense of clarity and control over their emotional lives.
Another metric worth noting is the rise in solo living and delayed partnerships. In many urban centres, people are marrying later (or not at all), but they’re not lonely.
Quality of life indicators, social networks outside of romantic partnerships, and self‑reported happiness scores don’t always drop with singlehood.
In fact, many single adults report high levels of life satisfaction when they have strong friendships, meaningful work, and stable routines.
Khloé isn’t the only one making celibacy look like a power move. Omarion once went three years without sex to focus on spiritual growth and personal discipline, while Nicki Minaj has openly shared that she’s “just chillin’”, taking breaks from dating and intimacy without shame.
