Model and food content creator, Nara Smith, is trending on social media because of how great she looks shortly after giving birth. At the same time, she is also facing backlash for trying to be “relatable”.

Smith took to Instagram to show how her post-partum body looks and shared that she used to be obsessed with “snapping back” immediately after giving birth, but now, with her fourth child, she is letting nature take its course.

“Women’s bodies are pure magic - divinely designed to create, grow and nurture life. We become the bridge between heaven and earth, guiding life into this world.

“With that, our bodies transform and stretch. I used to feel the need to bend and force it back into how it used to look, only to realise that it has become home to four other bodies. This final stage is filled with grace and slowing down,” she captioned her post.

The 24-year-old shared that she welcomed her fourth child, Fawnie Golden Smith, early this month.

Her caption and the pictures she shared sent the internet into a spiral, with many claiming that a woman’s body does not snap back immediately after giving birth, and she just wanted this opportunity to show off her flat stomach.

“I don’t mind you showing off your post-partum body that not most moms get to have, if you love it, show it off, it’s fine! But pls cut the fake bs caption trying to be relatable,” @pamtero commented.

@mari14bella wrote: “I love your usual content, but this post is so out of touch, or perhaps that’s intentional.”

While @leonixx_17 added: “Way too unrealistic.”

Social media has made people entitled and comfortable to tell other people how they should feel, speak and think about themselves.

Even though it is the same social media that has set certain beauty standards about women’s appearances, let’s not forget that, at the end of the day, we are all human and we are all different.

Experiences can vary, and what one woman's body is capable of may not be the same for all.

Just because Smith’s body was quick to “snap back”, it does not mean she is showing off how good she looks post-partum.

It’s also important to know that it is okay for one’s stomach to go back to normal a few weeks after giving birth because we do not have the same genes, meaning we will not have the same experiences.

The internet needs to cut Smith some slack.
