Multi-award-winning American singer Beyoncé Knowles is scheduled to make her return to the highly anticipated fashion event, the Met Gala, following a hiatus of ten years.
On Wednesday, November 10, it was revealed that Beyoncé, Venus Williams and Nicole Kidman will be joining Anna Wintour as the co-chairs for next year’s Met Gala.
The announcement was met with excitement, especially from Beyoncé’s fanbase, “The Beyhive”, because the singer last made an appearance at the Met in 2016 when she attended the “Manus x Machina” gala.
In addition, A-list celebrities such as Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Teyana Taylor, Sam Smith, Alex Consani and more have also been revealed as members of the Host Committee.
The announcement of the Met Gala 2026 co-chairs comes just weeks after the theme titled “Costume Art” was revealed.
According to “Vogue”, the 2026 theme is curated by Andrew Bolton, a Costume Institute curator, who will explore the relationship between clothing and the body beneath.
Bolton shared the inspiration behind the “Costume Art” theme and said, “I wanted to focus on the centrality of the dressed body within the museum, connecting artistic representations of the body with fashion as an embodied art form.
“Rather than prioritising fashion’s visuality, which often comes at the expense of the corporeal, ‘Costume Art’ privileges its materiality and the indivisible connection between our bodies and the clothes we wear.”
The Beyhive flooded social media with excitement since their fave is making a grand return to the esteemed fashion event.
Some even said that this comeback might include Beyoncé’s Act III announcement shortly after the Met or even on the day of the event.
In addition, Act III is the final part of her three-act musical project, following “Renaissance” (Act I) and Cowboy Carter (Act II).
Fans have been speculating that the final act will be a rock album due to the clues that she has been giving fans, and another speculation is that this album will be released in 2026.
So with the recent announcement from the Met Gala, fans are now convinced that the singer will definitely drop the album next year, potentially in May.
“Beyoncé makes her grand return to the Met Gala after years away? On the first Monday in May? Yeah, Act III dropping May 29th confirmed!!!” a user wrote.
“Yeppppp Act III announcement is loading…” another user shared.
“Beyoncé being asked to co-chair a gala she hasn’t attended in years is the definition of cultural impact,” a user added.
