Durban mother and daughter harassed by masked man in lewd masturbation video calls on social media

Durban – A 63-year-old Durban mother and her 42-year-old daughter have been subjected to harassment by a masked man who video called them both on WhatsApp and then began masturbating, according to security firm Reaction Unit SA (Rusa).
Rusa spokesperson Prem Balram said the daughter contacted Rusa requesting assistance to identify the man from screenshots taken of the video.
Balram said that according to the woman, her sister had also received multiple WhatsApp messages from an unknown number requesting her to join a video call.
“He thereafter made a video call from a different number. When the female answered, she found a male in a red T-shirt masturbating. He disguised his identity with a mask. She then ended the call,” he said.
Balram said the man repeatedly called back and when the woman finally answered, she recorded the incident from a second cellphone which resulted in poor image quality.
“The following day he video called her elderly mother and when she answered, the same man in a ski-mask was once again masturbating,” he said.
Both women blocked the numbers. However, they continued receiving video calls from different numbers, he said.
“Rusa is in possession of a 52 second video that was captured by one of the women,” said Balram.
Balram said if anyone had information about the identity of the man or had experienced similar incidents they should contact Rusa at 086 123 4333
