THE SOUTH African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has confirmed the payment dates for April 2025 social grants – and beneficiaries are urged to take note to avoid confusion or unnecessary queues.

According to the official announcement, grants will be paid in phases, as follows:

  • Older Person’s Grants – Wednesday, April 2, 2025
    • (This includes any other grants linked to older persons.)
  • Disability Grants – Thursday, April 3, 2025
    • (Including all grants linked to disability grants.)
  • All Other Grants – Friday, April 4, 2025

If you're collecting more than one type of grant, it’s important to check whether yours is linked to the Older Persons or Disability Grant – this affects when you can collect.

Card Swap Deadline Extended

In other news, the deadline to replace your old gold Sassa card with the new black Postbank card has been extended. Initially set for March 20, the deadline has now been moved to May 31, 2025, giving beneficiaries more time to make the switch without disruption to their payments.

To find the nearest Postbank card replacement site, simply dial *120*355# from your mobile phone.
