The City of Tshwane has kicked off its festive season staycation campaign called “Discover Tshwane: Your City, Your Adventure”, inviting residents and visitors to explore the capital city.
Sarah Mabotsa, MMC for Economic Development & Spatial Planning, said the campaign encourages people to explore the capital’s rich heritage, diverse neighbourhoods, outdoor attractions, and vibrant cultural scene throughout December and January.
The campaign, she said, highlights a range of free and affordable activities, including family-friendly experiences, local markets, outdoor routes, and community events across Tshwane's regions.
She added that the campaign showcases Tshwane as a vibrant festive destination, that offers something for everyone.
The diverse offerings include nature reserves, botanical gardens, township food culture, heritage sites, nightlife, and amazing public spaces.
“‘Discover Tshwane: Your City, Your Adventure’ is designed to showcase Tshwane’s wide range of diverse, exciting experiences and adventures that are available right on our doorstep. Residents don’t need to travel far or spend excessively to enjoy a memorable holiday season. Our city offers nature, culture, food, creativity, and entertainment for every budget,” Mabotsa said.
The festive programme is packed with exciting stuff such as weekly staycation guides, highlight routes, themed itineraries, and awesome travel deals.
Mabotsa said the campaign will feature events, deals, guides, and curated suggestions for residents and visitors.
“The City of Tshwane invites all communities to rediscover their city: one street market, trail, museum, meal, or neighbourhood adventure at a time,” she said.
She encouraged residents and visitors to join the campaign by sharing their holiday snaps, experiences, and videos on the city's official tourism social media pages @DiscoverTshwane, and using the hashtags #DiscoverTshwane #YourCityYourAdventure #ThisIsTshwane.
A full list of events, routes and guides is available on www.DiscoverTshwane.com and the city’s tourism social media pages.
Mabotsa stated that tourism is among the top 10 economic sectors targeted for support and growth under the Tshwane Economic Revitalisation Strategy.
She highlighted that Tshwane is South Africa's safest city, according to the latest SA Cities Network “State of Urban Safety” report, and also the fastest-growing metro in the country.
“We welcome our families and visitors to come and explore Tshwane’s amazing sites, from the World Heritage Site of the Union Buildings, through to our amazing nature and game reserves, cultural and other heritage sites,” she said.
