KZN Transport MEC Siboniso Duma has released the names of the 11 people who were killed in a horror crash on the R102 near Isipingo last week.

The eleven victims of the fatal crash involving a taxi and a truck along the R102 near Lotus Park, Isipingo last week have been identified, and preparations are being made for their funerals.
KZN Transport MEC Siboniso Duma said in an update on Tuesday that meetings had been held with the relatives of the deceased.
“The sheer number of victims and circumstances under which they departed is a source of shock and disbelief. We welcome the confirmation by the South African Police Service in KZN and the Minister of Transport, Barbara Creecy, in particular, that an investigation is underway.”
Duma commended the investigating officer from SAPS Isipingo police station who had worked with department officials to provide assistance to families as they were taken through the process of identifying their loved ones at the Park Rynie mortuary.
A mass prayer and memorial service will be held on Thursday.

He added that the families of all the deceased had been traced, with the last family located on Tuesday afternoon.
“We can confirm that all families have been located - with the last family located this afternoon. I have mandated the team to be closer to the families as they go through this emotional process, which involves accepting the tragic departure of their loved ones. Flowing from above, we wish to announce that families expressed their wishes to bury their loved ones individually.”
Therefore, he said a mass prayer and memorial service will be held for the victims at the King Zwelithini Stadium in uMlazi on Thursday.
