The family of Avoca, Durban man Vishav Premlall, who was murdered in July last year, are still appealing for information in the case.

The family in a post shared on social media said Premlall was shot dead while driving out of the family's home in Avoca on July 3, 2025. No valuables were taken leading the family to believe that it was a planned murder.

Private investigator Brad Nathanson, from Brad Nathanson Investigations, confirmed on Monday that the investigation is ongoing and the family were too distraught to speak to the media.

The post, shared as first person account from Premlall, states that he would have turned 34 this year.

He was described as a devoted son and brother, a developer, a gamer, a chess player, and a fitness enthusiast. He lived with his parents and sister in Avoca and was known for his discipline, work ethic, and love for animals.

Describing the incident, the post states that Premlall was reversing his BMW out of the driveway when a white Toyota Corolla blocked his exit. According to the account, a man exited the passenger side of the Corolla and walked quickly toward the driver’s door of Premlall’s vehicle, pointing a firearm directly at him.

Believing he was about to be hijacked, Premlall undid his seatbelt, unlocked his doors, raised his hands, and offered no resistance. However the gunman opened fire.

Premlall was shot four times and died at the scene. No items were taken from his vehicle including his laptop and phone.

Anyone who saw the white Toyota Corolla in the area on the morning of 3 July 2025, who knows who was driving it, who may have heard discussions before or after the incident, or who has any information relating to the planning of the attack, is urged to come forward.

Information can be provided to: Brad Nathanson Investigations on 083 250 2007 and callers may remain anonymous.
