The eThekwini Municipality announced on Wednesday afternoon that uShaka Marine World's Wet 'n Wild water park will reopen on Thursday, March 5.

The municipality said this came after the successful completion of repairs and comprehensive technical assessments.

In an earlier statement, it said the closure was due to an unexpected pipe burst that led to significant flooding in the plant room, impacting essential filtration and electrical systems crucial for water quality and guest safety.

In Wednesday's statement the City explained that there was a technical fault within the water plant system, which required immediate attention to safeguard critical operational infrastructure and ensure proper water quality for guests.

“UShaka Marine World’s technical teams worked round the clock to complete the necessary repairs and conduct thorough inspections, ensuring all water quality and safety standards are fully compliant,” the City statement said.

“The safety of guests and the integrity of the facilities remain the park’s highest priorities, said CEO Ndabo Khoza.

“We are satisfied that all necessary measures have been implemented and that Wet ’n Wild is ready to safely welcome visitors once again. We extend our sincere appreciation to all stakeholders for their patience and continued support,” said Khoza.
