Durban is buzzing with activity today as Bafana Bafana returns to the pitch against Panama at a friendly at Moses Mabhida stadium.

The South African national football team received a rapturous welcome at King Shaka International Airport on Thursday, with supporters gathered in large numbers, waving flags and chanting as the squad touched down. The team will play two friendlies against Panama in Durban and Cape Town as they prepare for the Fifa 2026 World Cup.
SAFA CEO Danny Jordaan expressed his gratitude for the reception, noting that the energy from the Durban community will serve as added motivation ahead of tonight’s 7pm kickoff at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
This marks the team’s return to the coastal city in less than six months following their World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe in October last year.
The eThekwini Municipality’s Marketing and Communications Directorate has confirmed that comprehensive preparations have been completed to ensure a "safe, secure, and world-class experience" for the thousands of enthusiasts expected to attend.
While no formal road closures are confirmed, Durban Metro Police have advised that heavy traffic is expected, particularly on Masabalala Yengwa Avenue and surrounding intersections, as the match coincides with other major sporting events in the City.
Spectators are encouraged to arrive early to allow sufficient time for parking, security screening, and seating.
In a specific plea to fans, the City urged fans to use the street litter bins provided throughout the stadium precinct to support the commitment to a clean and welcoming environment.
However the weekend’s football festivities have been overshadowed by the sudden cancellation of the Legends Derby featuring Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates legends,
The match was set to take place this Sunday, 29 March at Moses Mabhida stadium. Organisers, Puzzle Pictures, released an official notice citing "circumstances beyond our control" that made it impossible to proceed with the celebration of South African football heritage.
"This decision was not made lightly," the statement read. "To the football legends, your willingness to come together and inspire a new generation is something we deeply appreciate."
The organizers have confirmed that all refunds will be processed in full directly through their ticketing partner, Ticketpro. Fans with queries can contact info@puzzlepictures.co.za
