The eThekwini Municipality has officially unveiled its new digital job recruitment system - Digitally You e‑Recruitment Job Application Portal, which aims to provide a more efficient, fair and transparent hiring process for municipal vacancies.

In a statement the municipality said the unveiling marks a significant milestone in the municipality’s drive to modernise recruitment, address longstanding challenges and restore trust in the job application process.

The launch comes after the advertising of job vacancies was halted from December to allow the municipality to transition from a paper‑based recruitment system to a single advanced digital platform.

The City noted that although the Digitally You system is live and fully operational, new vacancies will begin loading on the platform on Friday, 10 April.

Chairperson of the Governance and Human Resources Committee, Councillor Nkosenhle Madlala, said the system reflects a caring, ethical municipality committed to performance and excellence. “This platform strengthens employee performance, eliminates inefficiencies, addresses job scamming and fraudulent activities, and ensures recruitment is based strictly on merit,” he said.

Councillor Madlala added that the new system consolidates fragmented processes into one platform that improves how the municipality serves communities while prioritising citizens with fairness, dignity and transparency.

The system allows applicants to create and complete profiles, upload documents and prepare in advance, ensuring applications are seamless and stress free when vacancies go live.

The system automatically screens applications, confirms submissions, flags missing documents and immediately notifies applicants whether minimum requirements are met, eliminating uncertainty, delays and anxiety.

Job seeker Nondumiso Ntuli welcomed the change. “Digitally You makes applying easy using my phone or device anytime, anywhere, with everything at my fingertips. The process is transparent and restores confidence that applications are handled fairly,” she said.

The system can be accessed on the eThekwini Municipality website under the jobs section.
