Two men were shot dead on Saturday night on the M1 Higginson Highway at the RK Khan's off ramp in Chatsworth.

According to ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, their paramedics responded to the report of a shooting around 9.30pm and found that the SAPS was already at the scene.

Paramedics were led to a tow truck and found two men, believed to be in their thirties inside the vehicle.

“It is alleged that a vehicle stopped at the breakdown vehicle and opened fire on the men before driving off. The men had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and there was nothing paramedics could do for them and they were declared deceased on the scene.”

The incident is being investigated by the police.

The shooting comes after another incident on the M1 Highway. A week ago a man was shot dead on the M1 Higginson Highway in the Mariannhill area. ALS Paramedics said in that incident a man in his forties was found in his vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.

A day earlier a man, 44, was shot on Chatsworth main road just past the Bayview off-ramp. The man, who later died in hospital, had been in a passenger in a vehicle driven by his father.

According to the Post newspaper, the father said he had been driving when another vehicle bumped the rear of his car. When the father stopped his vehicle, a gunman from the other vehicle opened fire. His son was shot in the abdomen.
