Actor and anti-immigrant activist Nkosikhona “Phakel’umthakathi” Ndabandaba has pushed back against viral social media claims that he is married to a Zimbabwean woman, dismissing the allegations as false and misleading.

Ndabandaba has rubbished the claims, saying they are spearheaded by jealousy.

"I have never had a wife from Zimbabwe. I will never have a wife in Zimbabwe.

"I once had a girlfriend that I loved. I saw that it wouldn't work. Before I even spoke to her, I made sure to inspect her papers for being in South Africa," he said.

He went on to say that he was not bitter or hateful due to the relationship but that he saw that they were headed in different directions as people.

"If you love a person, you look at where they are headed. If it's not the same, you part ways. I didn't become bitter or grow hatred for her after the relationship ended."

Dube said that she finally dared to talk to people after she trended on social media.

Ndabandaba said the claims were driven by envy.

"When you do this type of work, there are people who pray for your downfall. Sometimes, out of jealousy, it can be those you work alongside of."

The woman, Bekezela Dube has also come out in defence of the controversial figure.

"Firstly, I want to apologise to Phakela for exposing his private life. If that picture of mine was not somewhere on Facebook, I don't think we would have reached this stage."

She said that Ndabandaba had wives and children and that lies were being spread around social media.
