Police confirmed that two more suspects, aged 28 and 35, were arrested on Wednesday, May 20. They are expected to make their first appearance in the Ngcobo Magistrate's Court on Friday, May 22.
Meanwhile, the first two suspects arrested on Monday—aged 26 and 28—made their first appearance in the same court on Wednesday. They have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear again on Monday, May 25.
Eastern Cape provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Vuyisile Ncata condemned the "savage and deeply disturbing" attack, warning that the law would take its course against those who participate in vigilante violence. Police have stated that further arrests have not been ruled out as the SAPS Detective Unit continues its investigation.
