Gelvandale police seek help to identify man who died from stab wounds

Eastern Cape police in Gelvandale are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying a man, believed to be between 30 and 35 years old, who died from stab wounds at Livingstone Hospital.

Police spokesperson Capt Sandra Janse van Rensburg said the man died on Sunday, December 21, 2025.

According to preliminary information, at about 1.45pm on the day of the incident, the injured man was dropped off at the hospital with a stab wound to the abdomen by people believed to be family members.

“The medical staff requested the family to open a case while they were busy treating the man,” Janse van Rensburg said.

She added that the family then left the hospital without providing any further information. The man later succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased is described as a coloured male, aged between 30 and 35, with a slender build. 

Van Rensburg said the man was wearing a white skipper top with a zip, has a small beard on his chin and a thin moustache. 

He had no visible tattoos, scars or piercings.
