The murder case of Warrick Robert Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, returns to the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday morning.
On Monday, IOL reported that DJ Warras’ family had called on South Africans to show unity by changing their social media profile pictures to solid white squares as the accused was set to appear in court.
Stock was shot and killed outside the Zambesi House building in Johannesburg’s CBD in December while working as a security contractor at the premises.
Initially, three individuals were suspected of having been involved in the fatal shooting, including a man with dreadlocks. One suspect, 44-year-old Victor Mthethwa Majola, made a brief appearance at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court last month.
Majola faces a charge of premeditated murder in connection with Stock’s death.
Ahead of Tuesday’s court appearance, the Stock family urged South Africans to mark the day with dignity, reflection and unity rather than protest or division. In addition to changing profile pictures to white from Tuesday morning, the family also encouraged supporters to light candles at 6 pm on Tuesday wherever they are, as a gesture of remembrance and prayer.
The family said the candlelighting moment was intended not only to honour Stock’s life, but also to call for fairness in the judicial process and the restoration of peace.
The case is expected to proceed on Tuesday, with the accused appearing in the dock as investigations continue.
