Two women were among 10 suspects arrested after illegal drugs worth more than R22,800 were confiscated during a series of operations across the City of Ekurhuleni last week.
The arrests were made by the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Drug Enforcement Unit during targeted operations conducted between Monday, 12 January and Friday, 16 January 2026.
Police arrested eight men and two women, aged between 19 and 55 years, after they were found in possession of various illicit substances.
The drugs seized included khat, dagga, crystal meth and mandrax, with a combined estimated street value of R22,800.
All suspects face charges of possession of and dealing in illicit substances. They were detained at different police stations and are expected to appear before magistrates’ courts soon.
The EMPD said it remains committed to tackling drug-related crime and urged residents to work with law enforcement by reporting suspicious or criminal activity.
