Police in Limpopo have launched a manhunt after three people were killed and their bodies found next to a vehicle in Malogeng village in the Sekhukhune district.

According to police, "officers in Apel were alerted to the incident on Friday and rushed to the scene, where they discovered the bodies of one woman and two men next to a Toyota Corolla".

"Preliminary investigations indicate that the victims were attacked at another location before being brought to the scene. Police found stones and bloodstains nearby, suggesting the victims were assaulted prior to their deaths," the police said.

The police said "the motive for the killings is unknown at this stage", adding that three counts of murder have been opened, and investigations are continuing.

"Three counts of murder have been opened, and investigations are continuing. Police have appealed to the public for information that may assist in the investigation.

"Anyone with information is urged to contact Colonel Richard Boshomane on 079 894 5501, Warrant Officer Phaladi Makola on 082 749 2233, or Captain Lerumo Matabane on 082 414 2474. Information can also be shared anonymously through Crime Stop on 08600 10111, the MySAPS App, or at the nearest police station".

Earlier this week, IOL also reported that four suspects were shot and fatally wounded in a shoot-out with police at Adam's Mission in the KwaMakhutha policing precinct, south of Durban, on Thursday evening.

According to a statement released by KZN SAPS, the suspects were wanted for a series of serious and violent crimes.

"Police were on an intelligence-driven operation when they spotted the vehicle matching the description of the one which the suspects were using to terrorise the community of Umbumbulu and other areas by committing armed robberies, house robberies, carjackings and kidnappings," read the statement.
