Limpopo police arrested a 23-year-old robbery suspect inside the Temba Magistrate’s Court in Tshwane on Monday in a cross-provincial intelligence-driven operation targeting wanted criminals.

The suspect was appearing in court in Gauteng on charges of robbery, possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition, and theft when officers apprehended him.

Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the arrest followed credible intelligence regarding the whereabouts of outstanding suspects.

“The first suspect, aged 23, was apprehended during his court appearance at Temba Magistrate’s Court, where he was appearing in connection with robbery, possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition, as well as theft cases registered in Temba,” said Ledwaba.

Following his arrest, the suspect cooperated with investigators and led police to Moloto in Mpumalanga, where a second suspect, aged 27, was arrested.

“The second suspect was arrested in connection with a business robbery case registered in Rust de Winter,” Ledwaba said.

Both suspects have now been charged in connection with the Rust de Winter business robbery in Limpopo and are being linked to additional serious offences, including attempted murder in Hlogotlou, as well as business robbery and robbery cases in Pretoria Central.

“Further investigations are underway and additional charges may be added,” Ledwaba said.

The provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, commended members for their swift coordination, saying the operation demonstrated SAPS’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks operating across provincial boundaries.

The suspects are expected to appear in the relevant magistrates’ courts soon.
