A 30-year-old man who allegedly stole a Toyota Land Cruiser V8 from Bedfordview was arrested during an intelligence-driven operation.
Police said the suspect, Sipho Dlamini, was intercepted while travelling along the N1 towards Limpopo province on Sunday morning.
Dlamini appeared in the Modimolle Magistrate’s Court, charged with possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.
The vehicle is valued at around R1.9 million.
Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said police received information from a vehicle tracking company at about 10.30 am regarding a grey Toyota Land Cruiser V8 with Gauteng registration, which had been reported stolen in Bedfordview during February 2026, travelling along the N1 towards Limpopo province
Police immediately responded and intercepted the vehicle in Middlefontein North outside Modimolle.
Ledwaba said upon inspection and circulation of the vehicle, it was confirmed to have been reported stolen.
“The driver was arrested on the scene and detained at Modimolle SAPS. The vehicle, valued at approximately R1.9 million, was successfully recovered,” Ledwaba said.
The Police Commissioner in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, commended the officers for their swift response and effective collaboration, which led to the recovery of the high-value vehicle and the arrest of the suspect.
The suspect has been remanded in custody and will be back in court on March 6 for a formal bail application.
