The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed that all social grant amounts will increase by R10 as part of the October 2025 payment cycle, in line with the national budget presented earlier this year.
The adjustment follows Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana’s announcement during his 2025/26 Budget Speech, where he tabled a two-phase grant increase, first in April and a smaller increment in October.

SASSA CEO Themba Matlou welcomed the increment, describing it as "crucial" in shielding beneficiaries from ongoing economic challenges.
“This reaffirms government's commitment to protecting the most vulnerable in society, easing financial burden and cushioning them against economic hardships,” said Matlou.
He also assured beneficiaries that preparations for the October grant disbursements are fully on track.
“It is all systems go for the October payment cycle,” Matlou stated.
“All eligible social grants beneficiaries will receive their grants without any interruption.”
SASSA outlined the payment schedule for October 2025:
