A lucky Roodepoort player has struck it rich, winning over R19 million in the PowerBall PLUS Draw 1676, held on Friday, December 12, 2025, National Lottery operator ITHUBA has announced.

The winning ticket was bought for R15 using the manual selection method at a Shoprite Checkers store in Roodepoort, Johannesburg.

ITHUBA has encouraged participants who purchased tickets in the area to check their tickets, as the draw also resulted in several winners across the lower divisions.

According to the National Lottery operator, four participants each won R50,872.20 in the lower divisions, adding to the excitement generated by the draw.

Commenting on the win, ITHUBA CEO Charmaine Mabuza congratulated the jackpot winner and emphasised the potential impact of the substantial prize.

She said, “We extend our warm congratulations to the winner. An amount of R19 million is significant, and we trust that it will have a lasting impact beyond the festive season, offering the winner the opportunity to make meaningful, long-term changes in their life.”

ITHUBA said the jackpot winner will receive support throughout the process, including complimentary trauma counselling and expert financial guidance, to help them manage their newfound wealth with confidence and peace of mind.

The operator added that winners of R50,000 and above also receive trauma counselling and financial advice to ensure they are well equipped to manage their winnings.

All winners have 365 days from the draw date to claim their prizes, with winnings paid out within 72 hours of a valid claim, said ITHUBA.

ITHUBA confirmed that all National Lottery winnings are tax-free.

''Players can check their tickets at retail stores or view the results on the National Lottery website or social media pages.''

The National Lottery reminded players that they must be 18 years or older and encouraged the public to play responsibly.
