One person woke up R178million richer after bagging Tuesday night's Powerball jackpot.
National Lottery Ithuba confirmed that the historic jackpot was won by one person. The amount is a staggering R178,955,240.90
The Lottery operator said the person spent R15 on their winning purchase via the FNB banking app using a Quick Pick selection.
"This remarkable win now officially ranks as the second-largest National Lottery jackpot in South African history," said Ithuba in a statement.
The highest payout for Powerball was R232 million won by a Cape Town resident in February 2019.
As the ticket was played via a banking platform, Ithuba said the winner will be contacted directly by their bank to notify them of their win.
Adding that the winner will claim their jackpot prize from the local Ithuba office.
In line with Ithuba's protocols, winners receive free trauma and financial counselling.
