Johannesburg - The Emmy Award-winning documentary Miners Shot Down is to be be aired on South African TV for the first time.
The documentary, about the killing of 44 people at Marikana in August 2012, will be screened on eNCA tomorrow and on e.tv in January.
On the eve of the second anniversary of the Marikana massacre last year, widows and family members of those killed travelled from the Marikana Commission of Inquiry into the deaths to the studios of SABC and e.tv.
“This journey has been one we will never forget, standing at the offices of e.tv and SABC to deliver over 4000 amandla.mobi signatory names with the widows of Marikana,” said Amandla.Mobi executive director Koketso Moeti.
More than 5 000 people have signed in support of the the campaign and Amandla.Mobi expects more to join over the coming weeks.

Rehad Desai, who directed the documentary, reached a deal with the channel.
Miners Shot Down has been hailed as one of the most important documentaries produced in South Africa, which garnered worldwide acclaim.
This marks the first time the production will be screened in the country after SABC executives prevented a previous screening.
